Jonathan reads it himself and replies within 48 hours — then a 30-minute call, no pitch deck. If it's a fit, we start designing.
-
Jonathan. In the room, the whole time — start to finish. Not a rotating account team, not a junior coordinator.
-
Anywhere worth flying to. We keep a Bay-Area home base and a black book of properties across the Coachella Valley and beyond.
-
We've been in the corporate meetings and events industry long enough to know one thing, companies rarely have as much lead time as they'd like and most things tend to feel "last minute".
While TRO has planned retreats in less than 2 weeks before, we generally recommend booking 6–12 months in advance for the best selection of venues, accommodations, and facilitators. For larger retreats, incentive programs, or highly sought-after destinations, 12–18 months is ideal.
The earlier we begin planning, the more options we have—and the more intentional we can be in designing an exceptional experience. But if your timeline is tight, don't hesitate to reach out. We love a challenge.
-
No. It's experience design. The grounding modalities are tools used on purpose — never the pitch.
-
It scales with size and ambition. You'll get a real number on the call — no mystery, no games.
-
Every retreat begins with clearly defined objectives.
During our planning process, TRO collaborates with your team to establish measurable goals and baseline feedback through pre-retreat surveys. Following the retreat, we conduct post-retreat surveys and debrief with the internal retreat organizer to evaluate outcomes against those original objectives.
You'll receive a comprehensive recap of attendee insights, measurable results, and recommendations to help extend the impact of the retreat long after everyone returns to the office.
-
Thoughtfully. Grounded.
Every modality is presented as an invitation, not an expectation. We work closely with clients to understand their culture and curate experiences that feel approachable, relevant, and appropriate for their team. The goal isn't to change anyone, it's to create space for people to reconnect, recharge, and engage in new ways.
-
Only if you want it to be.
Every retreat is tailored to your culture. Some organizations prefer executive coaching, strategic planning, and leadership development. Others embrace sound meditation, astrology, breathwork, or energy work.
Nothing is prescribed. Everything is intentional.
-
Almost always.
The key isn't forcing participation—it's designing experiences that feel welcoming, relevant, and psychologically safe.
We've found that even the most skeptical attendees often become the biggest advocates by the end of the retreat.
-
We'll always be transparent about what's realistic.
Every single member of our team comes from a corporate meetings and hospitality background, giving us deep experience negotiating hotel contracts, food and beverage minimums, transportation, and vendor pricing. We work hard to maximize your investment while ensuring the experience never feels compromised.
That said, the meetings and events industry has changed significantly in recent years. Demand for premium venues, destiantions, accommodations, and food and beverage has increased, and retreats today require a meaningful investment.
Our role is to help you make informed decisions, prioritize what matters most, and design an exceptional retreat that aligns with your objectives and budget—whether that's simplifying the programming, adjusting the destination, or recommending the right property for your group.
-
No. Think of TRO as a global destination retreat partner.
While many of our favorite destinations are in California, we design retreats throughout North America and internationally. Every destination is intentionally selected based on your objectives, group size, seasonality, budget, and the type of experience you want to create.
Whether that's a vineyard in Napa, a desert retreat in Morocco, or a resort in Cabo, we believe the destination should support the outcome, not the other way around.
-
Not at all.
Every retreat is tailored to your organization's culture, leadership style, and comfort level. Wellness and mindfulness are never the objective—they're simply tools that can support creativity, resilience, communication, and stronger human connection.
Some organizations prefer executive coaching, strategic planning, and leadership development. Others are excited to explore breathwork, sound meditation, or energy practices. Most find a balance somewhere in between.
Our role is to curate experiences that feel authentic, inclusive, and aligned with your team's goals—not to push a particular philosophy.
-
You absolutely could, and many companies do.
But the itinerary is only a small part of what makes a sparks real momentum.
Every TRO experience is custom designed around your team's objectives, culture, leadership style, budget, and destination. We curate the venue, facilitators, wellness practitioners, guest speakers, dining experiences, logistics, transportation, gifting, and every detail in between.
More importantly, we know when to place each experience. A breathwork session after a difficult planning workshop has a different impact than one on arrival. A leadership summit, sound meditation, or celebration dinner is carefully sequenced to build momentum, deepen connection, and support meaningful business outcomes.
We also leverage an extensive network of exceptional facilitators, executive coaches, wellness practitioners, musicians, chefs, and destination partners—people most organizations would never know to find.
Our sample itineraries are intended to spark ideas. Your retreat is built from the ground up.
Ultimately, your leadership team should be fully present with one another—not worrying about venue walkthroughs, transportation schedules, AV, dietary restrictions, rooming lists, or whether the next workshop is ready to begin.
That's what we do.
